QUICK UPDATE
Its been a pretty busy new year with the two courses I’m taking at uoft so I haven’t had much time to update my blog with a well-edited piece. Things should calm down soon but in the meantime, a brief condensed list of things I’d blog about if I had time:

    - my coworker cant spell or read. When she relays call info over the phone to tech, she does not read the words properly. When our tech corrects her, she apologizes for pronouncing the word wrong. This is an inaccurate assessment of what is happening. I tutor a grade three student in reading. When she says ‘circumference’ instead of the word ‘circumstances’, I do not attribute that to mispronunciation. Similarly, saying ‘cartier’ when its ‘caraquet’ is not an error in pronunciation.

    - Dad likes lists but uses them inappropriately as conversational material. For example, if you ask him about his experience flying first class, he will talk about the wide range of fruit that was available for consumption and then, at a slow and steady pace, begin to list them off (in singular): apple, orange, banana, strawberry, pineapple, pear, grape, blueberry, watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, peach. Likewise, when observing that it is interesting how every country has its own tradition of literature, he will proceed to rhyme off countries with their own tradition of literature (there are presently almost 200 independent countries in the world).

    - Was in the car driving home listening to john tesh radio show (I am a closet easy rock listener). John Tesh had a juicy tidbit about singles and where they all hang out in upcoming segment. I stopped for gas. As a result, didn’t catch segment. Now feel that I have missed out on vital piece of information that was to put me on course to living happily ever after with man of dreams. Suspect life trajectory has veered sharply towards solitary life where an older, more obese version of myself is spending her nights on the couch with chicken wings and ice cream watching movies from her extensive home dvd collection of keanu reeves.

you’re taking UfT courses!! In my Quebec Lit course the teacher keeps reading out “Mary Lee” on her attendance list, and I always hope that maybe its you… but I do realize that I’m usually not that lucky, and I’m going to have to suffer through this horrible experience all by myself (I am only taking it in order to graduate with a French minor on my degree :-P )

hahahaha! i did try and take a quebec lit or theatre course or something last year. failed miserably (didnt go to class or do the work). so wasnt feeling all that confident about taking another one!! it woulda been cool if we had a class together though! now i’m taking french cultural studies course and history of medicine. no prerequisites required. for either. you can imagine what thats like. the level of discourse during tutorials- aiyaiyai..:P

sorry meant to say PROFESSOR(not teacher) = just a mispronunciation :-)
